Our Setting
Children 1st Pre-School regards snack time and lunch time as an important part of the Pre-School day. We will use the Lunch Club to help children to develop independence and social skills; by encouraging them to sit at a table, chat and have fun with their friends and staff while eating their lunch. Staff will also help the children to develop good table manners and an understanding of healthy eating. Lunch Club is a good preparation for older children who will be staying for lunch at nursery or primary school.
At the start of lunch club all children will be supervised to go to the toilet and wash their hands. The children will then eat their packed lunches together around the tables with the staff. Please send lunch in a named chilled lunch bag. The food will not be refrigerated at Pre-School but will be placed in a designated area until lunch time. The Pre-School is not set up to reheat hot meals so please send a picnic style lunch. To continue with Children 1st Pre-School healthy eating policy please supply your child with a healthy packed lunch – suggested contents are a sandwich/wrap/roll, Pasta, yoghurt, fruit and a drink.
We are a nut free school.
PLEASE DO NOT SUPPLY NUTS, NUT PRODUCTS OR CHOCOLATE SPREADS DUE TO RISK OF ALLERGIES.
There will be the opportunity for the children to play inside or outside once they have finished their lunch.
Lunch clubs run on Monday – Friday 12pm – 1pm.
We offer snack on a rolling basis throughout the afternoon session at Children 1st – children are invited to join in with a healthy snack and milk or water to drink. Our snack menu changes daily and we offer a variety of fresh fruit, dried fruit, vegetables and bread snack. Children are encouraged to spread their own butter/cheese spread etc and cut up their fruit & vegetables (with support).
We do cooking as a whole group once a half term and then eat what we have made together for snack. The recipe is usually linked to our themes eg sandwiches for a picnic during “Holidays” week, rice crispy cakes during “Easter” week etc. Other recipes include cheese straws, muffin pizzas, fruit salad, baking bread, biscuits and lots more! If your child has any dietary/religious requirements in relation to food please speak to a member of the team. We are a nut free school.
