From April 2015, all Early Years providers are able to claim extra funding through the Early Years Pupil Premium (EYPP) to support children’s learning and development.
The Early Years Pupil Premium can provide up to an extra £302 a year for three and four year olds who have been in care or adopted from care or whose parents are in receipt of certain benefits. We can use the extra funding in any way we choose to improve the quality of the early years experience that we provide for your child. This could include supporting our staff in working on specialist areas such as speech and language or purchasing specialist resources to meet the needs of the child. We will use the Early Years Outcomes tracker toolkit to identify where a child may need additional support and consider resources/training accordingly. We have also used the Education Endowment Foundation Early Years toolkit to help us identify effective resources and strategies for helping “disadvantaged” children through effective use of EYPP.
We know that a high quality early education can influence how well a child does at both primary and secondary school so we are very keen to access this funding where we can. All families will be asked to fill in the relevant section of the funding declaration form given out at the beginning of the academic year which will allow us to claim the funding for all eligible children. Eligibility is checked simply using a parent/carer’s National Insurance number.
