Policies & Procedures

Policy Statements

A full copy of our policy statements can be found in the policy folder which is kept on the table in the nursery. If you require a copy of any of the policies and procedures please ask a member of staff. All our policies are designed to offer the best possible experience for the children and families in our setting. Our policies and procedures are reviewed on a regular basis and comments or suggestions from parents and carers are always welcome.

We take Safeguarding very seriously at Children 1st and have stringent policies and procedures in place. As part of this, we are also committed to “Safer Recruitment” and follow HCC Safer Staffing procedures. All staff have attended Level 1 Child Protection training again in the Autumn Term 2020.

As part of our ongoing commitment to Safeguarding at Children 1st, we have a strict eSafety policy and procedures that we follow.

Our setting believes that children, parents/carers, staff and external agencies are entitled to expect courtesy and prompt, careful attention to their needs and wishes. We welcome suggestions on how to improve our setting and will give prompt and serious attention to any concerns about the running of the setting. We anticipate that most concerns will be resolved quickly by an informal approach to the appropriate member of staff and/or with the setting manager.

If this does not achieve the desired result, we have a set of procedures for dealing with concerns. We aim to bring any concerns about the running of our setting to a satisfactory conclusion for all of the parties involved.

If you require a full copy of any of the policies and procedures please ask a member of staff.

Equal Opportunities & British Values

We will ensure that our service is fully inclusive in meeting the needs of all children, particularly those that arise from their ethnic heritage, social and economic background, gender, ability or disability. Our setting is committed to anti-discriminatory practice to promote equality of opportunity and valuing diversity for all children and families. In accordance with DfE requirements we also promote the fundamental British Values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs.

We promote equality and British Values by aiming to:

★ Provide a secure and accessible environment in which all our children can flourish and in which all contributions are considered and valued;

★ Include and value the contribution of all families to our understanding of equality and diversity;

★ Provide positive non-stereotyping information about gender roles, diverse ethnic and cultural groups and disabled people;

★ Improve our knowledge and understanding of issues of anti-discriminatory practice, promoting equality and valuing diversity;

★ Make inclusion a thread that runs through all of the activities of the setting

Excluding Procedure For Illness

These are the exclusion guidelines that we follow. Families are advised that it is best not to send in a child who is unwell in any way to ensure the health and well being of other children and practitioners in the setting.

Please note that we can only administer medicines that have been prescribed by a doctor, in their original containers with the child’s name and the dosage clearly displayed. Parents must give prior written consent for us to administer medication.  Please ask your key person for a form if the need arises.
